Beyond motivation
Personal transformation (evolution) is achieved from the motivation caused by pain. The pain caused by death, a health-scare, poverty, bereavement, divorce or some other life trauma event.
When that pain fades, so does the ‘motivation’ to continue the personal growth. Old habits return, and eventually the old poor results in life will return also.
The phenomenon of ‘inertia’* teaches us that it would be criminal to allow your forward momentum to die.
It takes huge energy to move past the wall of inertia that exists, having done so it would be criminal to allow your forward momentum to warn and die.
As Charles J. Givens explains (quote below) it takes huge energy to achieve initial results, however forward momentum & propulsion can yield ever increasing returns.

Imagine this…
Your car’s battery is flat and it won't start.
With the help of many friends they push the car as hard as they can whilst in neutral, you drop the clutch and the car splutters into life courtesy of the bump-start.
It took 5 friends, lot’s of muscle and huge energy to get that car going.
Would you stop the car and turn off the ignition anytime soon? Or would you keep it running for as long as possible knowing the huge energy it would take to restart it.?
